Ken Hoyer
I am running for a second term on the BMWD Board because I am committed to the continuity of BMWD policies that have protected Blue Mountain water over 47 years of District operation. After moving to Blue Mountain in 1977, I served as board member in the early years of District formation. I returned to the Board in 2016. In my current capacity as Treasurer, I work with board members to build the annual budget, monitor meter reading and billing operations, review the annual audit, file required State and Dept of Local Affairs reports, manage bank accounts, and complete monthly Treasurer’s and payables reports. Like all board members, I frequently assist with additional projects, as needed. The current Board comprises varied expertise with experience vital to District daily operation and critical long-range planning. This lucky convergence of skills has provided expert in-house management, saving the District hundreds of thousands of dollars over its 47 years.

Darryl Maus
I am a physicist by education and a rocket scientist by vocation. I founded several successful companies including an aerospace company that provides products for spacecraft and satellites based on my inventions. Several of which are on display at the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. I retired early to pursue a latent passion for architecture. Some of my projects can be viewed at www.darylmaus.com
I actively support the communities I live in and have served on several HOA boards in all positions. The two most relevant are:
Bear Tooth Ranch – a private 700 acre ranch community (the valley due south of BME). My duties included supervising; CO open space easements, ranch operations, a ranch manager, road maintenance, security systems, Schwartzwalder mine operations on BTR easements, pine beetle management, a White Ranch Park easement, Coors lead and uranium abatement and more. I was the Architectural Review Committee chairman during the design and construction of $46 million in homes.
Northern Oaks Estates – a neighborhood similar to Blue Mountain Estates centered around a large private lake with private clubhouse, beach, docks, and boat launch. The duties were very “hands on” and included water safety monitoring, fish stock management, desilting operations, clubhouse event leasing and maintenance, police liaison, neighborhood events and more. The community had a private water system, including a water tower. Currently I serve on the BMLHA architectural review committee and my wife Bethany has served on the BMLHA board for several years.
Leif Sunde

As an experienced commercial construction professional, Leif understands capital projects intimately including time, cost, environmental impacts and sustainability. As a resident of Blue Mountain Estates, with his young family in tow, Leif has a personal imperative to ensure the longevity, sustainability, and cost efficient operations of the Blue Mountain Water District for himself and all users. With this Leif brings a commitment to maintain financial and operational efficiency, transparency, and resiliency to ensure a secure water future for each and all of his neighbors in Blue Mountain Estates.
Joe Tamburini
I am a retired Water Engineer (retired Colorado Professional Engineer and Class A water Operator) that has been involved with the Blue Mountain Water District (BMWD) since 1978. I was the lead engineer for the original water system design and construction and been involved with BMWD from inception to approximately 2008, then from approximately 2016 until now. I have served as President, Secretary, Operator, Director, Consultant at various times. I also designed the water treatment plant which was added several years after the original system was complete and operating. For approximately 15 years, I served as the licensed Class A Water Treatment operator and licensed water distribution operator in responsible charge (State requirement) for BMWD. Over the last 3 years, along with Bill Rech, we managed the design and construction of the new 100,000 gallon tank. We are currently working on replacement pumps for PS3, new meters and a new well; among other issues related to water supply. Except for the original design, all my services to the BMWD have been as a non-paid volunteer. In fact, all the services and time by all of the BMWD Board members for its entire existence have been on a volunteer non-paid basis. Monetizing this time would add up to a substantial amount.
I am still interested in continuing to be a Board member and complete the projects in progress and advance our current endeavors to improve our long- term water supply in an economical manner. Thank you.
